Introduction

The Royal College of Organists is governed by its > Royal Charter and > Byelaws first granted in 1894, and reviewed in 2003.

This revision resulted in a brand new Charter, granted by Her Majesty The Queen in June 2003, which gives powers to the College very similar those first granted one hundred years ago, but also allows the institution to move into the twenty-first century with confidence. The College's aim is unchanged - to continue to provide music education to the highest of standards - and to this end the College engages many talented individuals on its committees and advisory boards. The Council, Executive Committee, and Academic Board are constituted within the Charter to ensure that good governance prevails, and to enable to College to take the best of the musical world to the widest cross-section of our communities.
