Patrons & officers
The Royal College of Organists is governed by its > Royal Charter (first granted in 1893) and > Byelaws. Her Majesty The Queen, the College's Patron, granted a revised Charter in June 2003, and this gives powers to the College very similar to those first granted over a century ago, but also allows for the institution to move into the twenty-first century with confidence. The College's central aim is unchanged - to continue to provide music education to the highest of standards - and to this end the College engages many talented individuals on its committees and advisory boards. The Council, Executive Committee, and Academic Board are constituted within the Charter to ensure that good governance prevails, and to enable the College to take the best of the musical world to the widest cross-section of our communities.
