Sing 150!

Saturday 8th February 2014 (11:00 – 17:00)

Spend a day singing under the inspiring leadership of composer and conductor John Rutter and help the RCO celebrate its 150th anniversary at the church intimately linked with its early history.

The Royal College of Organists was founded In 1864 as the result of an idea of Richard Limpus who was organist of St Michael's, Cornhill at the time. RCO examinations were held at St Michael's in their early days.

Amongst the music to be worked on during this day will be pieces by former College Presidents such as Parry, Stainer, Howells and Harold Darke (organist of St Michael’s, 1916–66) plus music from the catalogue of Oxford University Press, including that of John Rutter, of course. Singers of all levels of experience will find this a rewarding day.

All music will be provided free of charge on the day. It will additionally be possible for singers to buy copies of the music published by Oxford Univeristy Press (OUP) at a discounted price. These copies come from OUP's choral workshops' library and will have been used at previous singing days. Among the music we will explore will be pieces from
