Overseas Study Trip to Switzerland

Muri and Luzern, Switzerland

The RCO's regular overseas study trips offer advanced players and observers of all levels an invaluable professional development experience with classes and other playing opportunities on exceptional instruments supported by expert tuition. This trip explores a variety of music reflecting Switzerland's geographical location and cultural influences from Austria, France, Germany and Italy.

Those booking playing places will be invited to submit repertoire choices well ahead of the start of the trip. The trip's artistic director Richard Brasier can give advice. • Repertoire for two organs, plus Italian 17^th century, J.S. Bach etc. solo repertoire at Kloster Muri (Great Organ by Thomas Schott of Bremgarten, 1630 restored Metzler 1965 and 1972; and two rood screen organs of 1743 by Joseph and Viktor Ferdinand Bossart)
• Baroque to Mendelssohn organ class at the Jesuitenkirche (organ by Metzler 1982)
• Catholic German, Austrian and Swiss organ repertoire at St. Maria zu Franziskanern (organ by Sebald Manderscheidt 1653; expanded and rebuilt in the 18th century by Anderhalden and Bossart)
• Romantic and contemporary organ repertoire, storm repertoire and improvisation using the rain machine at the Hofkirche (organ by Hans Geisler 1640; expanded by Friedrich Haas 1862; rebuilt, restored and enlarged by Orgelbau Kuhn 1972 to 1977)
• French Romantic organ music at the Musikhochschule (organ by Freiburger Orgelbau 2020)
