RCO Accredited Teacher Robin Harrison, a contributor to The Routledge Companion to Aural Skills Pedagogy, leads a course of five, weekly one-hour sessions ideal for those preparing for or considering ABRSM practical exams up to c. grade 6 and for those considering CRCO and perhaps struggling with the aural component. Dates: Thursdays 18:00–19:00hrs, 30 September, 7, 14, 21 and 28 October.
A firm believer that everyone can ‘do’ aural if provided with a structured course with strategic teaching methods, Robin will help you get past the stage of wondering whether a melody is going up or down, moving by step or leap, and not being able to sight sing it unsupported by a keyboard. Just eight places are available and you must book for the series of five classes.
The course is inspired by, but not specifically limited to the teachings of Kodály and will make the most of the advantages of online teaching, allowing everybody to practise whilst muted, ask questions as needed, and avoid falling into the trap of waiting for someone else to ‘give the lead’. No one will be asked to sing aloud to the group!
By the end of the course you will:
Each session will be recorded and available to those attending to rehearse with between classes and for a short time after the end of the course.
We also offer a course ‘Preparing for CRCO and ARCO Aural’, which will also beneficial to those working for ABRSM grades 7 and 8. Click here for details.
