Console Management II: More Complex Techniques

Saturday 28th May 2022 (10:00 – 13:00)
St. Dominic's Catholic Church, New Bridge Street. Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 2TE

Tom Bell will share the fruits of his practical study of registration and swell pedalling on Victorian organs. Students are invited to bring repertoire to play, or simply to ask questions. Victorian original repertoire, arrangements or editions would be particularly appropriate, but anyone seeking to register any piece on a large Victorian organ would be most welcome.

Issues addressed will include: choice of stops; complex hand registration; how to get the best from a lever swell pedal; technical planning and strategies; how and where to compromise.

The class is intended for students at all levels. The difficult questions addressed can challenge both professionals and amateurs alike!

This class will take place on the glorious unaltered Father Willis at St. Dominic's, Newcastle.

For further information on Tom Bell's recent study of this topic, see the latest RCO Journal.

This class is presented in collaboration with the Newcastle and District Society of Organists.

Fee: £40 member; £20 NDSO member; £50 non-member; £30 student member; £40 non-member in full time education; £16 observer place, member; £8 observer place, NDSO member; £20 observer place, non-member
