Andrew Cantrill-Fenwick will set out his inspiring approach to improvisation in a series of three classes, working in a structured way, with demonstrations and console time for each player. This second session will revise and build on the first, which took place in late 2019, and is for organists with some experience who are looking to develop their improvising. It would also suit those those wishing to refresh their improvisatory skills, and is designed for a group of up to eight players. Observers of all levels would also be welcome.
The class will cover harmony, melody, rhythm, and organ management in a format designed to generate confidence and creativity. A further session will be available in 2022.
This class is offered in conjunction with the Newcastle and District Society of Organists.
The class will take place at All Saints Church, Gosforth which has a fine Arthur Harrison organ. Details can be viewed here.
