Hymns and Voluntaries—practical guidance

Saturday 9th March 2019 (10:30 – 16:00)
Emmanuel Church, Compton Avenue, Mannamead, Plymouth PL3 5BZ

Two 2-hour sessions will be held covering such topics as hymn registrations, leading the congregation, playovers and choosing seasonal voluntaries. The tutors are Ian Curror and Bramwell Bourne, the South-West’s first and so far only RCO-accredited organ teacher. This is an ideal opportunity for some gentle, encouraging and supportive professional development—perhaps your church would pay for you to participate or attend as an observer?

10:30 Coffee and introductions
11:00–13.00 Session 1 for keyboard players wishing to play the organ and early-stage organists
13:00–14:00 Lunch (please bring your own packed lunch)
14:00–16:00 Session 2 for more experienced organists (ABRSM grades 4–6)

Emmanuel Church is easy to reach by rail or road. Frequent buses (number 52) make the short journey from Plymouth railway station direct to the church.

Active participants are invited to prepare hymns, worship songs and voluntaries of their choice to play.

Click here to send an email with any questions you may have.

Attendance fees are stated per session, so if you wish to attend one as a player and the other as an observer please book two places accordingly.
