RCO SCOTS supports the work of organists and all those providing music for worship in Scotland’s churches. Our local organ workshops are an informal way to broaden your knowledge, to meet like-minded people and to share experiences, and to receive advice and feedback on your playing. Whether you are eager to participate or prefer to sit back and absorb what’s happening, you will be very welcome.
In particular, if you are getting back into practice after an enforced break during the pandemic this is the perfect opportunity to refocus and brush up your skills again.
The workshop is open to everyone, whether you are already playing in organ in the church or not. Perhaps you have been asked to help and would like some guidance? Or maybe you have been unable to practise during the past year or so and are looking for inspiration? If so, join us on 26 February. Book before 21 January for a £10 discount on the event fee! (applies to SCOTS and RCO members only)
There are two sessions: in the morning with Simon Leach in the Canongate on Baroque repertoire (bring a chorale prelude by J. S. Bach or by another composer of the period), and with John Kitchen in the afternoon in Old Saint Paul's.
We are very grateful to Edinburgh Society of Organists for their financial support of this event. Observer places for ESO members are available at £10.
The day is open to all. For members of SCOTS, please note that subscriptions are now due. It will be helpful if you renew online before signing up for the workshop.
Your annual SCOTS subscription is now payable to the RCO, where you can become a SCOTS Affiliate Member. The cost of this subscription remains at £25 per year. As well as membership of SCOTS this will give you access to the large library of learning content and material on our digital hub iRCO, electronic copies of RCO News and the RCO Journal, and subscription to the RCO eNews member email. You will be able to pay this and subsequent subscriptions online using a credit or debit card. We are asking participants to go online to enter their contact details and pay their subscriptions by the following method:
If you are already a full or student member of the RCO, your SCOTS membership is already covered by your subscription and there is no need to make a further payment.
