Following the success of the first series of three classes in Norfolk in autumn 2018 we are now running a second series. These classes will be of great value to those pianists who find themselves playing for church services on a regular or occasional basis, to self-taught organists, and to those with a little more experience who would like some fresh ideas. It is not necessary to book all three classes in order to attend.
In this first class at St Cuthbert's Church, Thetford, RCO Regional Consultant for Norfolk Julian Haggett coaches you in the choosing and performing of pre- and post-service voluntaries with valuable tips on registration. Ideally, you will bring one or two pieces suitable for use in the approaching the seasons of Lent, Passiontide and Easter, but more general repertoire is also acceptable, as too are pieces that are still ‘work in progress’. This class is limited to six players so book now to secure your place!
The following anthologies provide useful repertoire
The Church Year, edited Anne Marsden Thomas and Ann Elise Smoot (Cramer)
Oxford Bach Books for Organists (especially manuals only book 1 and manuals and pedal book 1), edited Anne Marsden Thomas (OUP)
The Complete Church Organist Level 1 and Level 2, edited Daniel Moult (RSCM)
