Membership of the Royal College of Organists is open to anyone who takes an interest in organ and choral music and the related arts, whether you play, conduct, teach, compose or simply appreciate and enjoy the music.

To apply to join, please read the following details and complete the form below.

Subscription Rates

Membership of the College runs for 12 months from the date of joining. Your renewal date is 12 months from the last day of the month in which you join (so if you join on the 15th of the month you will renew on the 31st of that month in the following year).

The College offers two principal membership categories to new joiners: Full and Student.

Full membership of the College is open to anyone, regardless of age or status. Full members enjoy all of the benefits of RCO membership.

Student membership is available to anybody in full-time study, regardless of age. Student members enjoy all of the benefits of RCO membership except for certain professional services such as access to the Mentoring programme.

We also offer affiliate memberships to members of accredited and partner organisations, as follow:

Affiliate Student membership is available to students up to the age of 19 who are studying at either an RCO Accredited Institution or with an RCO Accredited Teacher (please check your eligibility with either your institution or teacher before applying). Affiliate Student members enjoy the same benefits package as Student members.

Affiliate AGO membership is available to members of the American Guild of Organists. Affiliate AGO members are eligible for a bespoke package of benefits including digital publications and access to iRCO.

Affiliate RCCO membership is available to members of the Royal Canadian College of Organists. Affiliate RCCO members are eligible for a bespoke package of benefits including digital publications and access to iRCO.

Affiliate SCOTS membership is available to those in Scotland who wish to join the Scottish Churches Organist Training Scheme. You will need to be allocated an Adviser before you join. Please contact ruth.irons@rco.org.uk to be allocated an Adviser.

Application Form

To make your application, please fill out the details below. All values are required except where indicated as optional.

Once you have submitted the form you will have the opportunity to complete your application with an online payment. Please note that your membership will not be confirmed until payment is accepted.

You will also be sent a welcome email containing your membership number and instructions for signing into our websites and digital services. To ensure you receive our emails, we recommend adding admin@rco.org.uk to your contacts list or to the 'safe sender' list in the junk or spam mail settings of your email client / software (you can normally find details in the Help function in your software if you are unsure how to do this). If you still do not receive your email, please check your spam / junk mail folder before contacting the College.

The College sends membership information by post and email. Regular publications include RCO News (our twice yearly magazine) and RCO e-News (a monthly email). We also send out a monthly RCO e-Diary detailing forthcoming events, and occasional ad hoc information we believe will be of value and interest to our members and supporters.




Information held on the College database is held in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). It will be used exclusively for the administration of your membership by the College and its partner agencies, and will not be given or sold to any third party without your consent. You can unsubscribe from College emails, or indeed any publications, at any time. You can do so via the unsubscribe links at the bottom of every email, via the RCO website Members’ Area, or by contacting the College admin team on 020 3865 6998 or email admin@rco.org.uk

Members Directory

The College publishes an annual Directory of Members which is made available to all College members via the website. As a member of the College you will be automatically included in this directory unless you tick here to indicate otherwise.
