RCO awards Diplomas, Certificates & Medals in cathedral ceremony

The Royal College of Organists has presented Diplomas and Certificates to 59 members of the College and awarded the RCO Medal to three distinguished organists.

At a ceremony at Southwark Cathedral on Saturday 7th March, RCO President Gerard Brooks conferred College Members with Fellowship of the College (FRCO), Associateship of the College (ARCO) and Colleague of the College (CRCO), and awarded Certificate of Accredited Membership (CAM).

In recognition of distinguished achievement he awarded the RCO Medal to Prof. Davitt Moroney, Daniel Roth HonFRCO and Judith Weir CBE.

The ceremony closed with the Ede & Ravenscroft Recital in which Anne Page played: Artizarra (Fantaisie sur un chant populaire basque) by Daniel Roth; Contrapunctus 6, ‘in Stylo Francese’ (from Die Kunst der Fuge) by J. S. Bach; Wild Mossy Mountains by Judith Weir; and Offrande et Alleluia final (from Livre du Saint Sacrement) by Olivier Messiaen.

The vote of thanks was given, according to custom, by Michael Koenig, winner of the Limpus Prize at Fellowship in Winter 2020. At the conclusion of the ceremony Hugh Rowlands, winner of the Limpus Prize at Associateship in Winter 2020, played Colimaçon by Tarik O’Regan.
