David Grealy, the current organ scholar at Westminster Cathedral, comes from Galway city in the West of Ireland. Before coming to the UK, he was a student at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth where he graduated in 2008 with first class honours in history and music performance.

From 2006 to 2008 he was organ scholar at St Mary's Pro-Cathedral in Dublin, where he studied organ under Prof. Gerard Gillen. His duties in the Pro-Cathedral included working closely with the cathedral's renowned Palestrina Choir, whom he accompanied on tours to the UK and to Germany.

Prior to this David was assistant organist at St. Michael’s Church Dún Laoghaire, home to a major international organ recital series, and organ scholar at Galway Cathedral. David is also in frequent demand as an accompanist, and has featured regularly on broadcasts for Radio Teilifís Éireann, Ireland's national broadcaster.

He has also won numerous awards for organ including the Stanford Prize (2003) and the Advanced Organ Prize (2005) at the Dublin Feis Ceoil, one of Ireland’s premier music competitions, and in 2008 he gained the Associate Diploma of the Royal College of Organists.
