The Organ Scholar Experience

This course is for organists preparing for or considering organ scholarships at universities, cathedrals and churches. Age range typically 15 - 19. Accommodation will be at St Catharine's College, University of Cambridge in the heart of the historic city centre.

• stellar tutorial team comprising Jeremy Filsell, William Whitehead, Daniel Moult, Anne Page, Ashley Grote, Sarah MacDonald, Graham Ross, Simon Williams and course director James Parsons.

• access for lessons and practising to most of the superb College Chapel organs

• Evensongs and Compline performed by students – who also conduct and play the organ (awesome acoustic for Compline in Ely cathedral Lady Chapel!)

• recitals by students and tutors

• punting (rain or shin!)

This course is a vital fuelling station for all who aspire to an organ scholarship at university or for a gap-year. And there’s a warm welcome too for adult observers to listen-in and also to sing with the student choir.

The course begins on 24 July with registration from 09:30 for an official start at 11:00. It ends on 29 July at approximately 16:45 after choral evensong (to which parents and friends are welcome) at St John's College commencing at 15:30.
