Two programmes for young organists on the same day! Start time c.09:30 and ending at c.1830.
Raise Your Game is typically for organists aged 9-19 and from absolute beginner (pianists who would like to try the organ are very welcome!) to grade 6 standard. The programme will include informal organ classes in an encouraging atmosphere on repertoire and sight reading, the chance to play in an informal concert, and will end with attendance at choral evensong at Westminster Abbey (sitting in the organ loft!) and then to play the Abbey's famous organ.
Those attending the RYG strand should prepare two or more contrasting organ pieces, one of which should be from the Baroque period. Ideally at least one of these pieces should be 'performance ready'; for the other(s) 'work in progress' is acceptable.
Set Your Sights is for players who are thinking about applying for an organ scholarship, who are typically aged 14-18, and with a playing of standard of c.grade 7 +. The programme will include tuition on repertoire, keyboard skills (including hymn playing), accompanying and conducting choirs, and will end with a service of choral evensong sung, accompanied and conducted by course members.
