Performing under Pressure - a Working Webinar for RCO Members

Thursday 2nd October 2025 (19:00 – 20:30)
Online

In this Working Webinar, presented with our partner organisation the Musicians' Union, Amy Littlewood, a busy orchestral and chamber music violinist and experienced performance coach, will explore the topic of performing under pressure. She is joined by Chris Walters who will talk about what support the MU offers in this area.

As musicians, we get plenty of instrumental guidance, but we need to go beyond the music and into our minds if we are to successfully cope with playing under pressure. It is a skillset of its own and there are many reasons why it is hard to attain the same level on stage as that which we can achieve in the practice room. Amy will look at performance anxiety, the effect this can have on performance and what we can do to help, and then will suggest ways to develop a toolkit to create our best performance under pressure.
