Associate Diploma in Choral Directing
Higher competency in choral directing

Choral Accreditation | Associateship Diploma in Choral Directing – AChD(RCO)

The Associate Diploma in Choral Directing recognises accomplished and confident choral directing, together with a high level of musicianship, rehearsal leadership and interpretative understanding.

It is intended for directors who are already working at an advanced level and who wish to demonstrate the depth, consistency and authority of their practice across rehearsal and performance.

Candidates for AChD(RCO) will typically be directing regularly and developing a broad and secure command of choral repertoire and technique. The qualification reflects not only practical directing ability, but also a thorough understanding of vocal and choral practice, and the ability to reflect critically on preparation, rehearsal and performance.

In addition to practical work, the diploma includes a supporting project, enabling candidates to engage in more extended critical or contextual study related to their activities as a director.

For many candidates, AChD(RCO) represents a significant stage of development beyond initial accreditation, consolidating experience and extending musical insight and leadership.
