Fellowship Diploma in Choral Directing
Professional expertise in choral directing

Choral Accreditation | Fellowship Diploma in Choral Directing – FChD(RCO)

The Fellowship Diploma in Choral Directing recognises the highest level of achievement in choral directing, demonstrating professional expertise, authority and distinction in rehearsal leadership and performance.

It is intended for highly experienced directors working at an advanced level, who wish to demonstrate not only technical command and interpretative insight, but a distinctive and compelling musical voice.

Candidates for FChD(RCO) will typically be directing at a high level across a broad range of repertoire and contexts. The qualification reflects a mature and authoritative approach to musical leadership, underpinned by a comprehensive knowledge of choral repertoire and a specialist understanding of vocal and choral technique.

In addition to practical work, the diploma includes extended critical and reflective elements, enabling candidates to engage insightfully with their own practice. Supporting projects provide an opportunity to demonstrate depth of understanding, intellectual rigour and the ability to undertake sustained, independent study.

For many candidates, FChD(RCO) represents the culmination of sustained musical development and experience within the RCO accreditation framework.
