The Organ Student Experience (TOSE)

TOSE logo

The Organ Student Experience is a comprehensive programme which supports young organists up to the age of 19, from beginner level onwards.

Whether the organ is a growing interest, a regular part of your musical life, or something you may want to pursue and study further after school, TOSE offers opportunities to learn, meet other young players, and explore the instrument with the support of the RCO and leading teachers.

TOSE Community

TOSE Community is a free online programme open to all RCO Student Members aged up to 19, regardless of experience or ability.

Members are invited to five or six online sessions each year, introducing different areas of the organ’s repertoire, exploring outstanding instruments, and offering the chance to learn from leading players and teachers from home.

If you are unable to attend live, recordings are made available exclusively to TOSE Community members.

Meeting dates and joining details are emailed to eligible directly to all RCO Student Members, and listed on the Events page.

TOSE-in-a-Day

TOSE-in-a-Day events usually take place twice a year, with one event in London and one in the north of England.

These in-person study days are open to young organists aged up to 19 who are around Grade 5 level and above, whether or not they are RCO Student Members. Participants work with leading teachers on fine instruments, developing skills in areas such as repertoire, technique, keyboard musicianship and hymn playing.

Places are limited and these events often sell out quickly, so we recommend joining the RCO mailing list to hear when booking opens.

The Organ Student Experience Week

TOSE Week is the flagship event in The Organ Student Experience programme.

This annual residential course takes place in late July or early August and is designed for young organists, typically aged around 16 to 18, who are working at approximately Grade 7 level and above.

The week offers focused tuition in repertoire, technique, keyboard musicianship, choral directing and accompaniment. It is particularly suitable for those preparing for, or considering, university, church or cathedral organ scholarships, as well as those thinking about conservatoire study.

Booking opens through the RCO website in the autumn each year. View events
