RCO Academys flagship summer school for teenage organists, designed to inspire and prepare teenage organists for audition as University or Cathedral organ scholars, revels for 2015 in the glorious environment of the Oxford Colleges. Supported by the Whitlock Trust, the William Haddon Charitable Trust, and the Peter Branker Bequest, generous bursaries are available.
An organ scholarship is one of the finest apprenticeships to which a motivated young musician can aspire and there are many vacancies every year: at Colleges in Oxford and Cambridge, in almost every other University, as too at cathedrals and in schools; organ scholarships may cover undergraduate years, gap-years, AS and A level courses, and postgraduate periods. Up to forty students, resident in idyllic riverside surroundings at St Hildas College - with comfy single rooms and great food - will receive top tips from distinguished tutor/ recitalists: Daniel Moult, Janette Fishell, David Goode, and Tom Bell, will be joined by leading choral gurus from Oxford and Cambridge, to lift the game in organ technique and repertoire, keyboard skills, choral directing, accompanying, and improvising. Students will have access to nearly all the sensational organs in the Oxford College Chapels and will sing, conduct and accompany no less than five choral services in the historic chapels. Then add to the summer cocktail the celebrity recitals, practising, student concert, recital awards, merchandise from sponsors and supporters, punting on the Cherwell and a vibrant, friendly social scene. If applying for a bursary, book before 1 May but pay only the deposit of 50.
Pay in full up to 15 March and save money, paying 620.
Booking from 16 March and before 31 May, either pay the full fee of 665 or pay the deposit now and the balance no later than 31 May.
Booking after 31 May, please pay the full fee of 665.
All fees are inclusive of VAT at 20%.
