The College will mark the 100th birthday of Dr Francis Jackson CBE with a special event on 4th October 2017.
The celebration has been organised at, and in conjunction with, York Minster where Dr Jackson directed the music with great distinction for 36 years.
Members are invited to join us from 17.15 for Evensong followed by a reception in the Minster. The reception is free to members, but please do let us know in advance if you plan to attend by emailing admin@rco.org.uk
Tickets for the earlier thanksgiving and lunch are now sold out. Guests are asked to assemble at midday at Bishopthorpe Palace, by kind invitation of the Archbishop of York, the Most Reverend and Right Honourable Dr John Sentamu. We are delighted that both Dr Jackson and Dr Sentamu have indicated that they will attend, as will Katharine, Duchess of Kent GCVO. After a short service of thanksgiving at 12.30, lunch will be served at 13.00. Guests are then free to make their way to York Minster, where we are invited to observe the rehearsal for Evensong.
Please note that parking is very limited throughout the day, both at Bishopthorpe and around the Minster, and you are strongly advised to use public transport, which includes an excellent Park and Ride scheme from various easily accessible points around the City.
