Viennese Masses are a staple of many choirs' repertoire, but playing them on the organ can present particular technical and musical challenges. In this class, Jeremiah Stephenson will help you with all stages of preparing these types of accompaniment for performance, from deciding which notes of the reduction to play, to touch and registration.
This class is advanced level players.
What to prepare—a movement/movements from:
Missa Brevis in D KV 194, Mozart
Missa Brevis in C (Spatzenmesse) KV 220, Mozart
Missa solemnis in C major (Coronation Mass) KV 317, Mozart
Mass no.2 in G D167, Schubert
Missa Brevis in B flat (Sancti Joannis de Deo/Little Organ Mass), Haydn
Mass in G major (St Nicolas Mass), Haydn
You are welcome to bring other settings.
To ensure adequate console time this class is limited to six players. Observer places will become available once four playing places have been booked.
