RCO Organ Forum: 21st-century Bach

Royal Birmingham Conservatoire

If the 20th century saw a gradual move towards one accepted (or even acceptable) way of performing Bach's organ music, so the 21st century has seen growing interest in diversity of approach, historically informed, but informed by approaches from different periods of history. This day, centred around the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire's Wolfson Organ, built by Flentrop Orgelbouw (after Arp Schnitger) and opened to much acclaim in 2022, is promoted in partnership with the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire's Organ Department.

Refreshments, including lunch, cannot be guaranteed for those booking later than first thing on Monday 30 October  - 1.11.23 update: we have space for two more bookings with lunch etc.

14:45 Christine Blanken (Bach-Archiv Leipzig) discusses approaches to Bach editions in the 21st century
15:15 Round table discussion chaired by Simon Williams, with Christine Blanken, Daniel Moult and Martin Schmeding (those attending are invited to email events[@]rco.org.uk in advance with questions/suggested topics for discussion)
