RCO SCOTS supports the work of organists and all those providing music for worship in Scotland’s churches. Our local organ workshops are an informal way to broaden your knowledge, to meet like-minded people and to share experiences, and to receive advice and feedback on your playing. Whether you are eager to participate or prefer to sit back and absorb what’s happening, you will be very welcome.
We return to Dumfries where we will be using two magnificent organs: the 1901 Lewis at Crichton Memorial Church and the Hill/ Wadsworth/ Harrison at St John the Evangelist Episcopal, both recently restored by Harrison & Harrison. We will be joined by the team at Banks Music Publications who are now based in Dumfries.
The workshop is open to everyone, whether you are already playing in organ in the church or not. Book before 31 October for a £10 discount on the event fee! (applies to SCOTS and RCO members only)
Information for those arriving by public transport
St John's is within walking distance of Dumfries rail station. The 0707 from Glasgow Central arrives there at 0901. If you prefer to catch the 0913 from Glasgow Central, which reaches Dumfries at 1058, you'd be welcome to do so and to join us shortly after we begin. Crichton Campus is accessible by car if you are driving, or by service bus. We will aim to provide lifts if possible. The day's programme will end in plenty of time for those who wish to catch the 1653 train to Glasgow Central.
