RCO SCOTS supports the work of organists and all those providing music for worship in Scotland’s churches. Our local organ workshops are an informal way to broaden your knowledge, to meet like-minded people and to share experiences, and to receive advice and feedback on your playing. Whether you are eager to participate or prefer to sit back and absorb what’s happening, you will be very welcome.
Our Glasgow workshop concentrates on the organist's relationship with singers and choirs. Early bird discount available for SCOTS and RCO members who book before 12 January.
Our venue is St Andrew's West Church (formerly Renfield St Stephen's), 260 Bath Street, Glasgow G2 4JP. The building is in the centre of Glasgow and easily accessible by public transport (nearest National Rail station is Charing Cross).
The organ is a 3 manual Willis of 1879 from Renfield Street Church, rebuilt in this building by Hill, Norman & Beard in 1968.
Our workshop is led by:
Ian Munro Ian is active as a percussionist, organist, pianist conductor and arranger. He is currently Musical Director of the Pentland Singers, Traquair Choir and Rudsambee. He was until recently Musical Director of the Kilmarnock & District Choral Union. He is Organist & Choirmaster at St. Machar's Ranfurly Church in Bridge of Weir, where he enjoys playing for Sunday worship and directing both the Church Choir and Junior Choir. He is also on the instrumental staff at St. Aloysius' College in Glasgow and Kilgraston School.
Andrew Macintosh, Director RCO Scotland & Northern Ireland and Adminstrator of SCOTS. As well as his work with the RCO Andrew is active as a player, accompanist and choral director. He is Director of Music at All Saints Episcopal Church, St Andrews, and Deputy University Organist at the University of St Andrews.
This event is promoted in conjunction with Glasgow Society of Organists. GSO members may attend as observers free of charge—no fee is payable.
