Join RCO Accredited Teacher Gerdi Troskie online on the five Tuesday evenings in November (1, 8, 15, 22, 29) 18:00–19:00hrs GMT to brush up and extend your knowledge of written harmony. These classes are ideal for those preparing for ABRSM theory exams and for the CRCO written paper as well as those not working for exams. The class size is limited to just six students.
Previous experience needed to attend
Students should ideally have a good grasp of major and minor keys up to 4 sharps and flats, and understand basic triads and intervals: roughly ABRSM Theory Grade 4 standard.

Outline of course content
The course will begin with a recap of major and minor key relationships, the circle of 5ths, and recognising basic triads in a score. It will progress to four-part writing, cadential progressions, chord inversions, 7th chords, as well as looking at figured basses and simple modulations. It aims to provide a theoretical overview covering ABRSM Theory Grade 5–6 up to CRCO written paper question 2.
What to expect of each class
This will very much be a ‘hands-on’ course. Students will be strongly encouraged to work through exercises in the classes, and to ask questions. Homework tasks will be set every week and will be checked and discussed at the start of the next class.
