RCO at Worcester Three Choirs Festival 2017

For a number of years the College has been fortunate to work with the administrations of each of the Three Choirs Festivals: Gloucester, Hereford, and Worcester.

Each festival has kindly scheduled a number of organ recitals for which the College has been able to nominate talented young players. The College has usually selected players on the basis of recent distinguished performances in diploma examination sessions.

It has been an immensely successful scheme, and once more the RCO will benefit from the partnership at the 2017 Festival, to be held at Worcester.

Organs beyond the city are being used, as is the RCO’s Wetheringsett organ (a reconstruction of a Tudor organ by Goetze & Gwynn, 2002), which will be used in the concert at St Swithun’s on 25 July.

Featuring in this year’s festival are the following recitals:

23 July, 13.15–14.15, Kidderminster Town Hall, Joseph Wicks
24 July, 13.15–14.15, St Martin's, London Road, Worcester, Sebastian Gillot
25 July, 13.15–14.15, St Swithun's, Worcester, Herman Jordaan
26 July, 17.30–18.40, Malvern Priory, Donal McCann

More details of these events and the programmes may be found at the Three Choirs Festival website at www.3choirs.org.
